Who is responsible for your information?
The controller for personal information handled directly by Practical IT Packs is Michael Chubb trading as Practical IT Packs. Contact: support@practicalitpacks.com.
What information we process
Depending on how you use the website, we may process:
- your email address, account identifier and authentication status;
- purchase information such as the products purchased, amount, currency, timestamps, Stripe Checkout/Customer references and payment status;
- your product entitlements and secure-download activity;
- support messages and information you provide when asking for help; and
- routine technical/security logs such as IP address, browser information, requested URLs and timestamps where generated by the website hosting, authentication, storage or payment services.
Practical IT Packs does not receive or store your full card number or card security code. Direct payment details are handled by Stripe/Link.
Why we use personal information
We use personal information to create and secure customer accounts, link verified purchases to the correct customer, provide downloads, provide support, detect abuse or fraud, maintain transaction/audit records and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
Lawful bases
Depending on the processing, our lawful bases include performance of a contract or steps requested before a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating, securing and supporting the Practical IT Packs service.
Who we share information with
We use specialist service providers where needed to operate the website and direct-purchase system, including:
- Hostinger for website and email hosting;
- Supabase for authentication, database records and private file storage;
- Stripe / Link for Managed Payments, payment processing, transaction support, fraud/dispute handling and applicable transaction-tax functions; and
- Etsy only where you choose to leave this website and purchase through the Etsy marketplace.
These providers process information under their own contractual and privacy arrangements and may use infrastructure in more than one country. Where UK personal information is transferred internationally, applicable contractual or legal safeguards are used by the relevant provider.
How long we keep information
- Account information is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period needed to complete closure, security and support processes.
- Transaction/accounting records are retained for as long as required for business, tax and legal record-keeping obligations.
- Secure-download audit records are normally kept for up to 12 months unless needed longer for a security, fraud or support investigation.
- Support correspondence may normally be kept for up to 24 months after resolution unless there is a reason to retain it longer.
We review retention needs and aim not to keep identifiable personal information longer than necessary.
Browser storage and cookies
The current website uses essential browser storage to remember the shopping cart and to maintain authenticated customer sessions. The current version does not intentionally use advertising or behavioural-analytics cookies.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase or restrict personal information, object to certain processing, and receive certain information in a portable form. Some rights are not absolute, particularly where information must be retained for legal or transaction-record purposes.
To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, contact support@practicalitpacks.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your personal information has been handled.
Security
We use measures intended to reduce unauthorised access, including verified email authentication, private file storage, server-side purchase entitlement checks, short-lived signed download URLs and third-party hosted payment processing.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when the website, suppliers or processing activities change. The current version will be published on this page with its update date.
